Hello friends,
I hope you won’t mind that our October letter is coming out a bit later than normal this month, but the story I’ve most wanted to take you behind the scenes of lately is the one I just shared with you this week: “The Boat Maker of Luxembourg Gardens.”
It wasn’t until we were home from Paris this summer that I began looking into the history of the little wooden boats we sailed there. I was amazed to discover that the boats are antiques, and that they’re nearly a hundred years old (only their sails have been replaced over time).
Then, a little deeper into my research, I came across photographs of the boat maker himself, Clément Padeau — and friends, I almost gasped when I saw them.
There he was, with his wife and their boats, standing in front of the Grand Bassin, right where we had been.
