“I am grateful for what I am and have.
My thanksgiving is perpetual.”
— Henry David Thoreau
Dear friends,
While Thanksgiving has difficult origins, I’ve always appreciated what it represents today — gratitude, good food, and the chance to gather around a table with those I love most.
After I started traveling, Thanksgiving would sometimes look a little different, depending on where I was in the world. One year, I happened to be in Delhi with my good friend Erin, when a serendipitous encounter led us to spend the day at an Indian wedding.
I wrote an essay about it a few years ago, and it’s still one of my favorite stories I’ve ever written, about one of my favorite Thanksgivings.
I thought I would share it with you this month, as a part of November’s letter to paid subscribers, and I hope you enjoy it!
With love,
Candace
