Hello there! And welcome to Dandelion Seeds, an illustrated newsletter in search of beauty and wonder in the world.
If you saw the story I shared last week, “Home is a Window Seat,” you might’ve read that in 2017, I had the chance to visit Chile for the first time.
While I was there, I created a series of vignette watercolor sketches — of mosaics and murals, and ordinary city elements that had been made into art. The sketches weren’t like anything I’d done before on a trip, and once I was home, I turned them into a short illustrated essay.
I hadn’t looked at the essay in a while until last week, so now I’d love to share it with you today. I hope you’ll enjoy retracing the journey with me.
Here’s to color — and transformation,
Candace
Just discovered your work. Wow! Such a treat.
Now I've visited Valparaiso ... with an imaginative guide who focused on beauty. Loved this, Candace. Lovely, just lovely. And so much fun to imagine the whole town decked out in neighborhood art.
