Lately, the sun has been shining here in Belgium — which, as you might remember from this illustrated essay from the spring, is something we’ve learned to never take for granted.
As an added bonus, Jose has been off work, and though I’d made grand plans to catch up on my own projects while he’s home, I’ve been trying not to worry about those plans too much and simply enjoy this time together as a family, while the air is warm and the world is green.
We’ve gone to a summer bar set in the garden of a former monastery. We’ve delighted in the sheer joy that Eva exudes every time we place her in a swing. And on Monday, we rolled up the pant legs of Elena’s romper and set her loose in a wading pool. It felt like the very definition of what summer is supposed to look like when you’re two.
