Switter, I'm just delighted that you love how your story turned out -- and I'm still so grateful to you for sharing it. I think we're all in need of the peace you've found at your home, looking out over that lime green river rushing by 🙏 thank you again!

Water! Yes, my “good place” seems to always involve the ocean of the Outer Banks, the James River by my house or any body of water I can sit by—if only for a minute. I remember you asking Dad “to find us a river to picnic by” on family vacations. Mostly what I’m taking away from this collection is that I need to be a good place for those in my spheres of influence—a safe space that refreshes their souls. Thank you to everyone who is sharing!!!!! ❤️

Mom, I love everything about your comment here (especially your nod to both the Outer Banks and the James River!) but most of all, I love the idea of not only finding good places in the world, but *being* a good place for the people in our life. That's such a beautiful thought, and I know I'll be thinking about that a lot this week 🤍🤍

Jiling, the honor is all mine for getting to share your story here! The first time I read it, I immediately loved the idea of a home break, so thank you very much again for taking us all there this week -- especially to glimpse those dolphins swimming by 💙

Thank you for this beautiful post, Candace, and gratitude to all of you lovely people who shared your good places with us! It definitely brought me peace amidst a challenging time. I love spending time walking along the seashore. I live inland, but used to live in Boston and often traveled the commuter rail to the North Shore. I'm always happy when a hiking trail leads me to a fast-moving brook, a waterfall, or a vernal pool. So refreshing! 🏞
