Hello there! And welcome to Dandelion Seeds, an illustrated newsletter in search of the magic in everyday moments.
The other day, I walked by one of our favorite cafes in Antwerp. It’s the kind of place that is always packed; its terrace filled with tables, every table filled with lattes and cinnamon rolls.
Except on this day, when there suddenly weren’t any tables out, and there weren’t any people. There was only a piece of paper taped to the cafe’s front door, and as soon as I saw it, I thought — of course.
It’s vakantie season.
It reminded me of a story I wrote this time last year. It’s called, “This Is Your Sign to Rest,” and I’d like to share it with you again today.
There’s so much happening in the world right now, and so many things weighing on our hearts. As you read this, I hope you’ll take a deep breath, and then another, and give yourself a moment to rest today.
With love,
Candace
Oh, yes! Thank you Candace. Like so many others, I needed that sign today. Blessings and a restful hug to you!
As I read this lovely reminder to rest, I am recovering from yet another bout of whatever bug is plaguing us these days. It was a slam dunk, literally. Down in bed for three days. It's also been a relief, in a weird way. All I wanted to do was sleep. Blissful, restful sleep. Aaahhhhh!! Isn't is silly that some of us have to get sick in order to rest? Is there guilt involved. The only guilt I suffered was how the birdbath will dry up for my backyard visitors. Other than that, sleep. Thank you for this reminder that some countries actually do allow a month of rest in its commerce. Sanity prevails in such places.
