I’ve changed my phone wallpaper to your lovely art this morning and every time I catch a glimpse of it I feel a little bit of autumn joy. Thanks for the gift!
Those leaves often remind me of oyster mushrooms. 🪭🪭
Shuffling through those first autumn leaves....... you just know, one will pop out to say” hi....pick me”.....jus like that ,one special feather that falls at your feet.
Rose, I love your comparison of gingko leaves to oyster mushrooms -- I'm not sure I've ever come across one in the wild before, but looking at photos of them now, I love how they share such a similar shape and texture. Thank you for broadening my visual horizons this week! 🍂
Have you noticed the similarities between your anatomical botanics, and those of Edwardian womens’,from their sketch and painting journals? - some of my favourite ever illustrations.x
Thank you so much for your kind words, Monika -- I'm so glad to hear this painting resonated with you! I loved bringing it to life earlier this year, and this week felt like a perfect moment to revisit it :) 🍂
Ahh be still my wisteria-loving heart! I loved hearing that the magnolia trees and wisteria vines are gracing you with their beauty and blooms right now, Vicki, and I hope this spring is full of inspiration for you 🌸
I almost forgot, but I received a lovely letter this week with a beautiful surprise inside! Thank you, thank you. It was much nicer than the fake handwritten siding and window replacement estimate, and the letter I keep getting from a hearing aid outfit that claims if I don’t get hearing aids soon, my next step in life is dementia. Hah. I already arrived at the next step! 😜
Wonderful artwork. Thank you! I'm looking forward to using it on my pc. The quote from Camus is actually new to me. Thanks for that! Here in Tokyo, the gingko trees are just beginning to change colour. They're a wonderful spectacle when they turn yellow.
Thanks so much for your comment and kind words, Jeffrey! I'm so glad I could help introduce you to the quote from Camus -- it's a good one, isn't it? I first came across it years ago, and it so perfectly captures what I love about autumn as an artist. And how lovely to hear about the gingko trees in Tokyo, every season in Japan seems to hold its own kind of magic ✨
— Oh, I am from Brazil! I have seen this Albert Camus’s quote at least 10 times over the course of these last few weeks. . . I love your reflections, and I love that we share the same admiration for such a beautiful Spring experience, currently happening here in the Southern Hemisphere. Last week, I wrote a post welcoming “the sense of the season”, which in my view, is about planting transformational seeds. Xo.
Bom dia, Thaissa! It's so lovely to hear from you -- which part of Brazil are you from? Thanks so much for saying hello, and for sharing your beautiful words here. I especially love what you said about "the sense of the season," and as I think about it now, whether this week is marking the arrival of spring or autumn for us, a change in the seasons is always a time for transformation, isn't it? 🤍
-- Boa tarde, Candace! It’s so nice to be here. I am from the Southeast, Minas Gerais. For me, poetry is a deep act of “caring, claiming, clarifying” in itself. Also, I like to think of life as a big exercise – one mostly constituted of balancing the transition and the harvest. Xo.
So generous of you, Candace! Thanks for the art download. You touched so beautifully on the dissonance ( I read it as the discord of our hearts and minds). Coming from India, I go through it quite a bit, especially in this season, when my heart wants to celebrate festival of lights (Diwali) and my 7-yr old wants to discuss halloween costumes and trick-or-treating plans :))

Ahh that makes my day to hear, Aimee! Thanks so much for sharing that -- I'm so glad I could send a bit of autumn's joy your way this week 🍂

I love oyster mushroom!
Thank you so much! I love the gold on real background. So beautiful, Candace.

So glad you did! And I meant good on *teal* background 😆 Such a soulful combo for fall.
Thank you, Candace, for another way to look at autumn and for your beautiful art.🧡
Thank you so much for your lovely words, Roseanne. I'm so glad this post -- and painting -- resonated with you 🤍🍂
Gorgeous 🤎 Though here is New Zealand the magnolias are popping pink and the wisteria is blossoming in my garden 💜🩷

I'm an autumn baby and love autumn. Not far from where we live, there is a memorial to Ernest Hemingway with this inscription:
Best of all he loved the fall
the leaves yellow on the cottonwoods
leaves floating on the trout streams
and above the hills the high blue windless skies…
now he will be a part of them forever.” ― Ernest Hemingway
What a gorgeous inscription -- thanks so much for sharing it here, Switter 🍂
