“There are only two ways to live your life. One as though nothing is a miracle. The other as though everything is a miracle.”
— Albert Einstein
Hello there! And welcome to Dandelion Seeds, an illustrated newsletter that is hand-painted and hand-lettered, from my desk to yours.
Last week, I shared about how blown away I was by your comments on my newest illustrated essay. It’s a simple story about finding blessings in unexpected places — even in an airport, on a long layover, with a toddler in tow.
And so before we begin a new illustrated essay series next week, I wanted to take a moment to honor the beautiful thoughts you all shared after I published “Blue Skies and Tailwinds.”
For today’s post, I’ve hand-lettered five of your comments, one of which even just so happens to include one of my all-time favorite quotes.
I created a similar roundup of reader wisdom over the summer. After I shared about our move from Uruguay to Belgium — and about how uprooted I felt at the start of our time in Antwerp — I hand-lettered a few of your responses to that essay, and shared them in a follow-up post called “The roots of who you are.”
I now have a feeling that this is going to be a regular feature on Dandelion Seeds, and I couldn’t be happier about that.
Just like a dandelion is made up of all those tiny downy seeds, I love that the community growing up around this newsletter is home to so many different voices, each with your own well of stories and insights to draw from.
Here’s to the magic of community — and to living as if everything is a miracle,
Candace
Thank you again to
, , , , and for sharing your wisdom.
Candace, the only reward I am after for my small efforts on Substack is to touch hearts. You affirmed that my efforts are not always in vain.
Also, I want to add something: there is always goodness in the world, and often when we least expect it, but need it most.
Candace, I feel so honored to see my words here! Thanks so much, you made my day. I love all of the ones you featured, but Switter and Donna particularly touched me. At the same time, I believe that when we live with intent, showing kindness and good will towards others, the unexpected positive, or the miracle as Einstein explained it, is more likely to happen because we have created the conditions that cause it to happen.
