Once again I am left in tears. "Everything is sweeter in season." Can I be so bold as to say another "prophetic" lightning strike into my heart? I know this in my head but the journey to my heart seems like an endless marathon. Is that a thing? I crave the contentment that this phrase brings. Thank you.

"I know this in my head but the journey to my heart seems like an endless marathon. Is that a thing?" I love this line so much, Mom, and that journey to the heart is such a familiar one for me as well ( I feel like I'm on it again right now even). Thank you for sharing your beautiful words here -- and for helping shape this story, too! 🍓

Thinking in seasons for my creative work is such a much more pleasant way to live life. There is so much less resistance. Thanks for yet another beautiful illustrated essay!

Yes! You've nailed it, Jason -- that's exactly the thing about our creative work needing less energy and resources when it's the right season for a story or project...the word "resistance" hadn't come to mind yet, and I'm so grateful you named it here 🙌

Just like one of the principles from Kendra Adachi: “live in your season!”

That plum. Those cherries. That basket of strawberries. Yum! I can taste them all.

We are enjoying our local farmers market in Holt, Michigan. What a wonderful time of year this is!

Thanks, Candace, for touching me with your words and images.

I'm so glad I could send some of Belgium's bounty your way last week, Marlee, and I can only imagine the delights to be found in your own farmer's market 😍 Thank you so much for reading and being here.

A delightful reminder to BE HERE NOW. Your piece has me pondering why our food manufacturing systems, like our brains themselves, are equipped with machinery that can produce and distribute fruits from another season, thoughts of another time and place, when all the world we need is right here in front of us.

YES!

I’m not happy that my pickles come from India, my blueberries come from Chile, Peru, or Canada, etc., when they all grow here, except the pickles, which are part grown and part made. I wonder if they use big nets filled with cucumbers and tow them across the Pacific behind a tug boat?

Fresh, homegrown and homemade are best.

I have a similar motto, living here in mexico. It all tastes so much better when it's in season and fresh. And less energy expended!
