Thank you so much for your kind words, Kate. A cup of tea in your cottage sounds like heaven -- I feel like tea and cottages were meant to go together :)

I also wanted to thank you for your cross-post this week! That was such a lovely surprise, and I so appreciate you sharing this 🤍

There's nothing in the world a cup of tea can't make better :) I'm rather partial to a cup of Earl Grey, although smoky Lapsang Souchong (always loose leaf) is also a favourite. Although I live in England, the first time I ever saw a tea chest was in Florida - Disneyland in fact. I chose Orange Pekoe on that day, but couldn't work out why it didn't actually taste of oranges (doh.) Thank you for sharing your beautiful story and illustrations and for giving me pause for thought in my day.

Sarah, thank you so much for this wonderful comment -- it's lovely to connect with you, and to meet another lover of Lapsang Souchong! I fell in love with it while working on a little book about tea a few years ago, and I'm fascinated by its origin legend as well. I'm so glad you enjoyed the start of this story, and I look forward to sharing new chapters with you soon :)

Now I simply HAVE to delve into the origins of Lapsang Souchong! As a herbalist you've piqued my interest and I feel a little project coming on! I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful illustrations which feel so joyous. I'm so glad I found your newsletter :)

I'm so glad to have found yours as well, Sarah! And I just love the synchronicity that we both were writing about tea this week, too :) What you wrote here is so beautiful and true: “We all instinctively know that a cup of tea made with love is one of the most powerful medicines on Earth.” 🤍

Hello Candace, I have never read a more lovely story of tea online than yours. I have always loved tea (having grown up in HK and U.K.)! Also, I love and admire writers who are artists. I wrote about them on Medium (https://medium.com/@marianneo/writers-who-are-artists-delight-us-with-their-visual-arts-and-illustrations-3081b0f77bb9). I wish I could add you there :-)

Marianne, thank you so much for your comment and kind words -- it's lovely to connect with a fellow tea lover :) Thank you as well for sharing the link to your roundup of writers who also happen to be artists. The quote you shared about Sylvia Plath especially resonates with me: "...writing and drawing served as springboards for each other. Her poems would inspire drawings and her drawings would give birth to poems." Thank you again, and I look forward to sharing more stories with you soon!
