Hello there! And welcome to Dandelion Seeds, an illustrated newsletter that’s hand-painted and hand-lettered, from my desk to yours.
You might’ve noticed that one of my favorite things to write about is home.
I love exploring different ways to think about what home is — whether it be a cup of tea, a mug of coffee, or even the window seat of a plane. And this time last year, right before Jose and I moved from Uruguay to Belgium, I stumbled across another picture of belonging in a rather unexpected place: a softball field.
It’s now officially been a year since we said goodbye to Montevideo, so today feels like a fitting moment to revisit this story.
Here’s to making a home far from home,
Candace
Thank you, Candace, for this wonderful story. Softball played a huge part in my childhood. It was the "baseball" game that girls could play too. And you and I must be listening to the same muse because I'll be posting a story next Monday about watching a minor league baseball game in Reno, NV. Totally, different take, of course, but isn't that the way things go, especially on Substack. It's as if we're sometimes all in sync on some weird thing in common.
I love your story. You write as vividly as you paint. I am so new to Substack that I don't know what a paid subscription is.
