“Love weaves itself from hundreds of threads.”
— David Levithan
Hello there! And welcome to Dandelion Seeds, an illustrated newsletter in search of the magic in everyday moments.
Back when I traveled full-time, friendship bracelets were always my favorite thing to collect. They were full of color and texture and stories — a tangible way to carry memories with me, without taking up any extra space in my backpack.
There was no better sign of how much I’d loved a place, than if there was a new bracelet on my wrist when I left.
I think that’s one of the reasons I most loved learning about martenitsa bracelets from Bulgaria recently, which I wrote about in last week’s story.
And as I read through your comments over the weekend, I was amazed by how much you all connected with the tradition as well — and with the wider practice of wearing sacred threads.
I was so moved by your thoughtful responses, that I felt compelled to do something more to honor them. I’ve hand-lettered a few of them here today, and I so hope you’ll enjoy this community thread (pun very much intended).
With love,
Candace
Thank you all again for your thoughtful comments on last week’s story, especially to , , , , and .
Heart-warmed to be included here, thank you !
They are such pretty items which is one of the reasons I like them, although I don't own any and I don't know why that is.
