This reminds me of a yarn ceremony I did for myself at my Mother Blessing (in place of a Baby Shower), and for my friend. All ladies present stood close together. We took yarn and tied it around one wrist of each lady. Then we spoke blessings over the mom to be, and cut the yarn and tied it to our wrists. When the baby was born, we took off the yarn. It was a wonderful ritual for me, and I still have my yarn in my scrapbook from myself and my friends' mother blessing.
