I love it! A painting of a corn dog plant!

I have tried several times to pick them when they are ripe, but I never can get it right. No matter how long I cook them, they always taste funny and have a strange texture. I finally gave up and now only buy the ones from our local gas station, which I give to my dog, who eats them and gives me the energy I need by licking my ear. I’m a human version of a plug-in hybrid.

My goodness. You sure know how to evoke me!

Ha! Thanks so much for reading, Switter, and for your always-entertaining comments -- I'm not sure I'll ever look at cattails the same way again now :)

I’m an Idaho boy no matter how far away I strayed over the years. It’s how we are up here in this white hell of a trackless wilderness.

FYI, your little meadow lark reminded me of a question I meant to research a while back, so this morning, I checked on whether they migrate and most of them do, but not very far. Maybe low altitude southern Utah and New Mexico. But the most interesting thing I learned is they are related to all the orioles, the red wing and yellow headed blackbirds, and a few of the shiny grackles. Who would have thought our little friends come from such an illustrious family? Now I love them even more.

P.s. Wild corn dogs don’t taste good even if drowned in mustard and ketchup.
