Thank you, Candace. This was a day I needed a little inspiration.

“whether or not

you have ever dared to be happy,

whether or not

you have ever dared to pray.”

Mary’s poem reminds me of two others that I love.

From Robert Browning’s Pippa’s Song from Pippa Passes:

The year's at the spring,

And day's at the morn;

Morning's at seven;

The hill-side's dew-pearl'd;

The lark's on the wing;

The snail's on the thorn;

God's in His heaven,

All's right with the world!

And from Thoreau:

“Whenever a man hears it

He is young,

And nature is in her spring,

Whenever he hears it

It is a new world

And a free country

And the gates of Heaven

Are not shut against him.”

I wasn't familiar with this poem of Mary Oliver's, so thank you for sharing it and your illustration. I feel nurtured as a result of both.
