Hello there! And welcome to Dandelion Seeds, an illustrated newsletter sent with love from my desk to yours.
Last week, I loved sharing a new story with you, inspired by my daughter Elena’s catch phrase: “This Is A Good Place.”
And as I read through your beautiful comments on the story, I found myself wondering if there was a place that came to mind for you.
Perhaps it was a favorite cafe, a place where you know you’re always welcome.
Or perhaps it was the home of a good friend — like my friend Hallie’s house here in Uruguay, whose backyard I had the chance to sit in recently.
I wrote about our time together in my latest essay for paid subscribers of Dandelion Seeds. I shared about the morning glories surrounding her yard; about the small lake her house overlooks, its shores lined with eucalyptus trees; and about the sense of contentment I felt that afternoon, the kind of peace you can feel in both your body and soul.
It was a peace that had me thinking:
This is a good place.
Or perhaps — and this is just coming to me as I write this — it wasn’t a physical place that came to mind for you, but a stage of life you’re in right now.
Perhaps you’re in transition, and even though there may be answers or direction you’re waiting for, there are still moments along the way that have you thinking:
This is a good place.
And so today, I’d love to invite you to share more with us, by leaving a comment below this week:
What is your good place?
I’ll then hand-letter your responses (no doubt with a few new illustrations to accompany them) and share them here soon, as a new community edition of Dandelion Seeds.
Finally, I wanted to end by saying how heartbreaking it has been to see all those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. My prayer is that in the midst of so much loss and devastation, they might find a good place to take shelter, to find safety, and to slowly begin to rebuild.
With love,
Candace
My good place is a bookstore with a café
My good place is sitting on a blanket under a 200 year old oak tree in the summertime. Preferably with a good book.
