This struck me immediately, I’m such a fan of David’s poetry and this is one of my favourites! Give up all the other worlds except the one in which you belong… This poem became a mantra for me during some difficult times in my life and is now a reminder of what came after. Your illustration is perfect. Thank you!
Emma, everything you wrote here resonates with me so much. "Sweet Darkness" has absolutely been a balm for me too, and I'm so glad it's been there for you as well in trying moments -- every line feels like it could be a mantra, they each hold so much power, don't they? Thanks so much for reading, and for sharing what the poem means to you 🤍
You always delight but this is positively transcendent. The world and our spirits are most definitely meant to be free. I believe in the God of Abraham who has given us the freedom to choose our own path. I hope that when I reach the end of my own that it has led me back to Him. Not sure why this illustration took my thoughts in that direction but it did. Just sharing, not proselytizing. Thank you as always Candace, for sharing the beauty of your own soul.
Thank you so much for your kind and generous words, Maureen -- they were an honor to read, and I also loved reading about the beautiful thoughts this sketch sparked for you 🤍
Vicki, I'm so happy to hear you connected with this, and now I really look forward to sharing a few more sketches with you over the coming weeks. Hugs from Belgium to New Zealand! 💙
