Hello there! And welcome to Dandelion Seeds, an illustrated newsletter in search of the magic in everyday moments.
This fall on Dandelion Seeds has been all about words — especially the words we reach for when we’re in need of a little extra hope and light.
And it’s had me thinking back to an illustrated essay I created this time last year, not long after we moved to Belgium. It’s a story about one of the first words I ever learned in Dutch, but even more importantly, it’s about the small moment of kindness that led me to learn it.
As this week marks Thanksgiving in the US, today feels like a good day to share it with you again.
With love,
Candace
In the approaching gift-giving season, you remind me that kindness is the greatest gift of all. As I move through my day here in Virginia, I think, "If we would all step up our kindness game, the world WOULD BE a better place." Is it always easy? Heck no. But it is possible. That is my Advent discipline this year: practice kindness. Sometimes that is hardest at home. So, here's to digging deep and becoming a kinder human being.
What a lovely piece, brought tears to my eyes.
